Jamie Wingo (1961 -)

Jamie Wingo is another of those gay adult film stars of the eighties who still commands a cult following today.  After working for a time for a small gay-owned advertising agency, Wingo began appearing in gay adult films, debuting in 1980 with his then-lover Leo Ford in J. Brian's Flashbacks.  He also made money on the side as a hustler on Santa Monica Boulevard.  One day he was picked up by a man who turned out to be David Forest, who had recently ended a PR career in the music industry.  Forest allowed Wingo to move in with him and even to use his phone number to take out an escort ad.  The arrangement eventually evolved into "Brad's Buddies," an escort service run by Forest which specialized in providing dates with male porn stars.  Forest also used his expertise to manage Jamie Wingo's career as well as that of Leo Ford and numerous others.  During this time Jamie Wingo also had a met a young man while cruising at a West Hollywood adult bookstore.  The young man was John Nelson Gaines, and the encounter helped to launch his own career as Jon King. Shortly after his meeting with the future Jon King, Wingo parted company with Forest after a dispute over commission from an escort assignment.  He continued to work freelance as an escort, and also to make adult films, though intermittently.  Between 1980 and 1985 Wingo appeared in the movies Brothers Should Do It (1980, with Jon King); Malibu Days, Big Bear Nights (1982); Summer Fantasy (1982); Inevitable Love (1985); Wild Oats (1985); and Hot Male Mechanics (1985), among others.  After 1985 he left California, living for a time in New York and then in Greece before settling in Atlanta, where he resides at this writing.  Until recently, he continued to work as an escort and at last report was going to school to pursue a career in nutrition.
