Kip Noll (1958 - ?)
An early discovery of director William Higgins, Kip first appeared in a few silent film loops by Higgins in 1977. The following year, as Kip Knoll, he appeared in "Surf and Turf," with Jack Wrangler. Other films done in 1978 and 1979 made Kip an instant smash. By 1980 he had dropped the extra "K" and filmed "Kip Noll and the Westside Boys" on his twenty-second birthday. Other movies quickly followed, including "Grease Monkeys" (1980), "Cuming of Age" (with his "brother" Scott Noll, and Steve York, 1980), "Roommates" (1980), "Brothers Should Do It" (with J.W. and Jon King, 1981), "Pacific Coast Highway" (1981), "Flashback" (with Al Parker, 1981), and "The Class of '84, Part One" (1981). All became hailed as classics of the pre-condom era of gay adult films. One lesser effort, the clunky "Kip Noll's Casting Couch," was directed by straight adult film star Seka's husband and featured a cameo by straight adult film star Ron Jeremy. Kip Noll rapidly became one of the first megastars of gay porn and a regular performer at the notorious D.C. Follies, and before long a whole crop of "brothers" and "cousins" appeared as directors sought to cash in on the success. In time, Bob, Scott, Jeff, Marc, and Chris Noll would grace film and video screens, all within a four year period following Kip's first appearance. After a brief hiatus, Kip Noll returned to gay porn in 1984, with appearances in "Class of '84, Part Two. He also did a memorable scene with Jon King in a hot tub in "Kip Noll, Superstar" (1984), the one new scene in what was a compilation of clips from his previous movies. Soon after, Kip Noll simply disappeared. Rumors, myths, and speculations have surrounded Kip's disappearance for the last twenty years. Several have speculated that he was one of the many gay adult stars felled by AIDS. Others had him quietly living in Los Angeles or overseas. The most popular and most likely one, alluded by William Higgins himself during an interview, is that the man millions once fantasized about as Kip Noll is now married (to a woman), living quietly somewhere in the Rockies, working as an auto mechanic, and the father of several children, with neither his family or neighbors having a clue as to how he spent his youth. It would appear Kip was also one of the first gay adult megastars to be "gay for pay." Kip Noll's credits include "Surf and Turf" (1978); "The Boys Of Venice" (1979); "Grease Monkeys" (1980); "Kip Noll & The Westside Boys" (1980); "Cuming Of Age" (1980); "Roommates" (1980); "Brothers Should Do It" (1981); "Pacific Coast Highway" (1981); "Flashback" (1981, re-released as" Al Parker's Flashback," 1984); "The Class Of '84, Part One" (1981); "Brothers Should Do It" (1981); "Kip Noll's Casting Couch" (1983); "The Class of '84, Part II - The Adventure Continues" (1984); "Try To Take It "(1986); and "The Best Of Kip Noll" (1991).
